Here is where the album started. This was our first real studio. "DemoListen Studios / CopperHill Records ". It was built with the intention of finding Travis, I just didn't know who he was at the time. These photos show the control room looking at the vocal booth and office area, and behind the vocal booth, was the bathroom / drum room. We used to joke about the THRONE being a great drummers seat!
The walls and floor of the vocal booth were covered with carpet. If you look closely, you can see a red spot light attached to the upper corner of the glass window. It was our idea of a mood light at the time, but it was really red and hot. Travis used to say it made him feel like a "Chicken McNugget" when he did his vocals behind that glass. I could probably do a whole book just on the one - liners that came outta that studio. Our main mic was an AKG 414 which we used on all of Travis' vocal tracks on
Working on this album was one of the greatest learning experiences either of us had ever had. I wrote " Sleepless Nights " on the way to work one morning in the middle of the Atlanta traffic. I was driving and didn't have a pen and paper to write down all the words so I needed Travis to write it down and get the melody in his head so we wouldn't lose it during the course of the busy day I had ahead. I called Travis and woke him up and started to sing what I had over the phone. He was truly excited about it. When I got home that evening, he was waiting at the studio with the finished song and we laid it down on tape. Its a great song and one we both knew would end up on the album. He sings it so well.
Travis and I hunted for songs like, " Talkin' 'bout Love " - written by Eddie Queen and my brother Joey, among others. We chose musicians to work with in order to get the material and performances we needed for the project. I never doubted our success. In fact, I predicted The Horizon Award several years before we actually won it. I only missed by one year. We were dedicated and put one foot in front of the other -- ONLY, when we knew where the foot would come down, and what the result of that move would be. ( more later ...... in MY book, if I ever finish it. )

I just found a couple of photos of the Bath / Drum room I had taken a long time ago, where I tried to get the whole room in a photo but couldn't, so I tried to put them together so you could see it as it really was ! A lucky find!
