For those who have known me for most of my life, I hope this might have some special meaning for you. If Danny can change, then theres hope for me too. I want to share whats been happening with me for the past few weeks. I've started to read the Bible! Can you believe that? Its true. I am now in the book of 2nd Kings and I have to tell you, I'm so glad I started to do this. I've always heard other people use quotes from the Bible and use those quotes from their perspective and how it made them feel, but now, when I read these for myself and see how they came to be from the beginning of Genesis, its a whole new ball game for me. I read that myself ! What a neat thing for me to be able to say. I've always had this " thing " in the back of my mind that I should read the Bible, but I just never tooK the time to do it. So for, I've read the stories of Abraham, Moses, Samson, and David along with all the stories that go with these people that I'm sure, like me, you've heard about all of them.
Thats just a few of the things I've read about so far, not nearly all of it. One thing you should keep in mind tho if you decide to do this,... its hard to read parts of the Bible because of the names etc, and meanings of some of the words. Just remember this, if you stay with it for just a few lines more or maybe a couple of pages, the story line developes into a very exciting part of whats happening at that time and place in history, and its the best book I've ever read. I'd much rather read the Bible now than watch TV. Its a part of where life came from and how it developed and who was a part of making up history in a time that history was in fact being developed from scratch.
Finally, the NIV ( New International Version ) of the Bible that my daughter Ashley gave me for Christmas last year is the best version to read, because its written in a more easily understood way. Just pick one up and check it out, its the same thing only different :)
