I sat in my bedroom for what seemed like a whole weekend figuring out the arrangement for A Summer Place back in 1963 I think, it had to be right, it was my favorite song. Good Lovin, and Mustang Sally were on the album as well and we all had a hand in those arrangements, however Eddie was the key to figuring out all the chord changes.

I wrote Shiny Tracks when we began to do some originals, and Billy played the lead breaks on the recording, which are some of my favorites to this day, really good player with a great feel for many different types of music. Billy was my friend. He was killed in a car wreck not too long after this was made. We all loved him and miss him a lot.

I wrote Mamas and Dads over a period of several months, maybe even years, and finished it in Muscle Shoals at the studios there in their cabin where we were spending the night on a road trip back in the 70s. Lots of people think its a neat song.

Gloria was done in the studio while we were doing Travis' album on Bentwood drive back in 1986 I think. Thats Bill Pugh on Bass from 96 Rock here in Atlanta who was hanging out with us that night. We just decided to put something down on tape that was fun and this is what happened. Bobby is singing, Billy Suit on guitar, Mike keenum on drums, and all of us singing and acting like fools in the mix of it all. Stand By Me
was another favorite. We did it kinda in the vein of the Lennon Rock and Roll album....sorta.

This is a very neat place in that it is a preserved audible trip back to another place and time which I'm sure countless other musicians did the same exact thing we did, fell in love with making music.
I'm positive you'll enjoy it.

Plus if you have some old recordings of your bands work from the 60s, send me the info, and we may put it up here as well as a brief bio and photo. The clips here are short, so they will download quickly, but enough to get a retro feel of the past. Those of you who were fortunate enough to have lived in that time / era will feel it I'm sure. Now enjoy!! Just click on the Song Title Links above to hear the music.
Thanks, and come back often, theres lots more to come, like the info on the Blue Ridge Canteen / Blazers Reunion for the Joe T. O'Neal Scholarship Charity Fund. This, you don't want to miss!!

Thanks,
Danny

( oh , I almost forgot, the shamelessness of it all, the sales pitch:
You can order
" BLAZERS ON FIRE "
re-mastered and re-membered, through our Blazers page here at Firstake. These are digital reproduction CDs of this old album, and they are neat!!
Sorry 'bout the sales pitch... )

Music samples ... with a few friends ....

Eddie Queen, Ronnie Thomas, Ted Christopher, Bob Ferguson,
Mike Keenum, Billy Suit, Joey Davenport, Tony Matthews, Larry Patterson, and Danny Postell all played on some of these recordings, and there will be more later on. I hope somehow these guys find their way here, I think they would all get a kick out of it.
